I have a chicken guard and it works fantastic but tonight I came home and to the best of my knowledge seems like the door came down on a chicken and she wouldn’t move and got cut. There is a fair amount of blood on her head and around the door. Has anyone had any issues like this?

Watch her for balance problems, indicating brain injury. Electrolytes can help if she's a bit shaky from shock. I like Gatoraid for this purpose since it also has sugar which can give her an energy boost, too.

Thanks I will try that, the door comes down super slow so I think it’s merely a flesh wound, she seems ok

Some folks set those automatic doors to be timed to close well after all the chickens go in to roost to avoid stragglers. Seems there's always one that likes to hang around outside and enjoy the peace and quiet after the rest of the herd goes in.

I seriously doubt the chicken guard door cut your chicken. Another chicken yea. That door is just like the one I designed and raises and lowers on a cord. I've watched mine push the door up a bit to get out.

I have the metal door on pulleys, so the control is actually lower than door and i think one ended up pushing it so it came off then acted like a guillotine. But I think I’ve resolved it now thanks.

I was just looking at the examples that showed up with a search for chicken guard and they just hung from a rope. So not really the fault of the chicken guard but the door design?

Got a photo of your setup?
