I have a hen that is about 4yr old now. She use to lay big eggs, and passed something that looked like small rodent. It had bones and flesh. After that, she has always been puffed up. This has been for about 6 months now. She hasn't layed any more eggs. I'm beginning to think she may be inner laying now. She is getting big. She really don't look to well. Does anybody know if this will kill her, does the eggs reabsorb into her. Can anything be done to reverse this. Thanks.

For most birds with this condition, it is usually fatal. A few people on the forum have had surgery on internal layers. It is hard to find a vet that will operate on chickens and it is very expensive. You might want to do a search to see what you come up with.

I lost one hen to this condition. She was my friendliest bird, too.

I am not having a lot of luck finding articles on inner lay. I think I feel an egg towards her lower front area. I would say she is egg bound at this point. Unfortuntaly she probably will absorb it. I felt it last night and check tonight and its still there same spot. I'm thinking if she is now inner lay for quite some time, that she probably won't change. When she walks, she walks like a penguin. She is heavy. She still eats and drinks. She is getting old, probably close to 5yrs old. How long did your hen last when you realized she wasn't well. thanks for replying.
