I am new to the world of backyard chickens. For years, I've wanted chickens, but do not currently live in an area where chickens are permitted. We hope to soon move.

Evidently, I wasn't very clear in my original post. Currently, I do not live in an area that allows chickens. It sounds like some people assumed we were going to go ahead and get chickens anyways... not the case. We live in central OK and are looking at moving and obtaining more land, which would then allow us to have chickens. I have already started planning for this, and have started my own "chicken wish list." Even with the space and allowance for chickens, I was curious as to if some breeds were "quieter" than others. I understand that with any animal comes noise, mess, etc.
