Insect Control

The leaves of tomato, potato, eggplant and pepper plants are toxic to humans (the veggie part is the only part that isn't) but I don't know about birds. I know deer will eat my potato and tomato plants.

Most animals (except horses, cows, and humans) won't eat things that are poison to them - don't know about chickens though.

Chickens will die from eating tomato plants? Do you mean if they eat the leaves? or do you mean from eating tomatoes? (no potatoes in my yard) I have tomatoes around my yard inbetween other ornamental plants this year, so no central vegies garden to fence off.

I have a neighbor that has oleander that hangs over the top of the fence a bit too
do I need to worry about bits of that falling into the yard and killing the chickens once I let them free range?

WELL it is from eating the tomatoe plant leaves etc.
Not from eating the tomatoes.

Also it is the leaves of the potatoe plants, not the full grown potatoe.
Any of the green potatoe is poison also for chickens.
