All right. Let's start with the basics. I'm working with a pathetic salary, and I'm running into every problem possible with my girls. To be clear, I raise them myself on MY dime. First, here's what is wrong:
They make a weird hiccup sound. Recently, one has started stretching out her neck and gaping. They rasp, their stomachs sound like niagara falls (very gurgly), and they cough. So I figured they had worms, specifically gapeworm. I started their treatment with Fenbenzadole, with 1/2 a cc orally. I did this about 3-4 days. It didn't do anything. It seemed like when I brought the worst hen inside, she got worse with the warmer room. So then I decided, huh. Maybe it's respiratory disease. The symptoms match about as well as for gapeworm. I tried orally administering VetRx, applying to sinuses, under wings, to combs and wattles. For a whole week, regardless of my increasing lack of time. Nada. So I decide "No, it really has to be gapeworm". I start adding Fenbenzadole (the goat stuff from TSC) at 3 ml a gallon to their water. It seems to be sort of working, but I'm still hearing those sounds, and it seems agitated when they eat, drink, or are held. What the heck is up!? Antibiotics are a last resort. They are on a 100 percent organic diet, with Healthy Flock supplements. I feel like there's a lot more I could say on this, but first I would LOVE any thoughts.
