Inside look at egg industries

I made the mistake of going to the PETA website one time. Never, ever again. They had a video of baby seal clubbings. OMG guys...no emoticon fits here. Sick. Really freaking sick. All for a buck too. And the video of what happens to dogs in China. I threw up. And thats NOT normal for me. I can eat lunch while watching surgery on TV, and not be phased! But THESE got to me. Now, I stick to sites I know and avoid it all. My hub thinks odd things when he comes into the room and sees me bawlin my eyes out at the computer...

Definately a disturbing video. I wonder if these guys even confronted the corporation as to what they found. Wonder if they would have done anything if confronted with the videos.

It's amazing what is done in order to mass produce food in this "modern" age. Most people would be complete vegetarians if they actually knew how meats are mass produced. I knew a guy a few years ago who toured a beef facility. He said more than a few times that if you saw what he saw, you'd more than likely be a vegetarian for the rest of your life.

But there is more hope in a small flock as many of us on this board have. The ability to produce your own eggs definately loses the funds from entities such as the one in this video. Though I do hear that many corporations are moving to more humane, actual free range types of practices.

Yes, if you care to (and if you have the stomach for it), you can find out how Wegman's PR toadies are trying to handle the situation by googling, but it would be a long, long (sad) thread if I tried to explain it in detail here.

Folks, if you read the guidelines, there's mention of why posts like this are not allowed.. PETA and animal rights extremists don't do anything without a shock value. Here we do not judge, but support our own members with their backyard flocks, regardless of the size of the flock. We do not want to give a lot of free press to such organizations

Videos like this are designed to agitate, not assist.

Our mission statement, if you will, is to lead by example. We respect and love our birds, regardless of the reason we have them.
Even if destined for the table, all of our birds have a good life as a bird should live.

To simplify...."Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, and to change the things I can"....
