Inside of the hen house

This is the inside of my coop. My roosts are covered with indoor /outdoor carpet and are about 16" off the ground. I have a few heavy gals. My roosts are also hung on u joist hangers so they can be taken out and hosed down. The floor is covered with construction sand and sweet pdz. I had a poop board but found this was easier for me. The white wall is bathroom board. Easy to clean messes.

love your coop. Looks great

oh wow your coop is really nice,
my run is 3 feet high, 3 feet wide and 6 feet long so not as big
but I only have 2 chickens.
The hen house is roughly 3 feet wide, 2 feet long and about a foot high.
The run is on dirt and for now the hen house has only a blanket in it.
What should their bedding be?
I heard woodchips or hay?
Also, since we only have a 3 foot high run, how high should I put the roost?
Lastly, you mentioned that your feeder is hanging, I love that idea!
For now I've been throwing the feed on the ground because they've outgrown their bowls but I think I want to imitate this idea.
Anyways, any suggestions? Thanks so much for the info. :)
If you are going to put the roost in the run is it enclosed enough for sleeping out there in terms of keeping the wind off of them at night as well as strong enough to keep predators out? A secure coop for sleeping is really best but with only a foot of height you won't have room for a roost. That's actually not even enough head room for a standard size chicken to walk around in, or maybe you have bantams?

Wood shavings are fine for inside the coop and probably the easiest to purchase and store for a small coop.

Lovely. I'm still needing to finish my coop.

I like the idea of the removable roost, I'll have to use that.

Question on your nest boxes...you have 8 boxes, 4 on bottom, 4 on top. Did you only curtain the bottom nest boxes or was the top boxes un-curtained for photography reasons? Does the left two top boxes have a perch but the right two top boxes don't?

Thanks for showing us this interior.

It is just like a kitty litter box, so all you are doing is picking up the clumps of poop.

Just like you pick them out of a real kitty litter box.

But, don't use actual kitty litter (VERY unhealthy) use e Sweet PDZ

I have curtains on top now. This was an old photo when I just started out. The top right boxes do not have a roost as the coop door opens in. The girls have no problem getting into these two boxes to lay an egg. They usually step into the one box and over to the end one. They are very coordinated.

This is what happens when you bother a laying hen behind the curtain. This is my sweet, jump in your lap Buff Orpington Daisy. She is 6 months old.
