Inside winter watering systems for chicks and ducks - No Mess ! Are there Any ?

Well, I'm going to try something for my chickens. A 5 gallon food-grade bucket (Lowe's has them) into the bottom of which I'll drill maybe 3 holes and then put chicken nipples in. In the wintertime, you put a bird bath heater in the bottom to keep the water from freezing. I don't know how chicken nipples work for ducks, so someone else will have to chime in on that.

This is the set up I have. Its the same idea as the nipples in the bucket, gravity feed. I tried the nipples in the bottom of a bucket but I didn't like it as much because when I took the bucket to fill it up, you couldn't set it down because of the nipples. But I don't have a hose at my coop, so if you do it may be the way to go. I have 17 chickens at the moment. I don't have ducks right now, but I had some about 2 years ago. Everything I have read says that ducks can use them, but I have no first hand knowledge. Good look and I hope that helped.
