installing a plexiglass window

:thumbsupChixpix is right. I always use Lexan (which is what is commonly available in all of the building supply stores around here) because it is far superior to Plexi in that respect. I use the term Plexiglas like I use the term Kleenex instead of facial tissue. There is is difference. Lexan will weather far better (it is commonly used in skylights and other "real" places).
 
Lexan is pretty expensive tho! We used to only sell it by a full sheet.

you could also go with a laminated glass. It's not too expensive, and a flat glass shop would probably sell you a little piece for next to nothing. Laminated has 2 pieces of glass with plastic sandwiched in between. It will be tinted to green lightly - it's what your car windshield is made of. You will find it nearly impossible to break all the way through.
