While living in the Midwest I used cottonseed hulls for the floor of my coop...they were great....absorbent,soft and composted quickly.
Now that I'm in the PNW I can't find them anywhere. Any suggestions as another floor covering other than hay/straw??

Pine shavings? Wood chips? Check around as to what is available. I've read that straw tends to collect mites (hollow shafts) and think hay maybe pricy. I also use the "horse" pellets (bedding) when we get weeks (HI) of rain to help absorb the water, breaks down and blends in.
