Insulate?

So my almost complete coop has LP SmartSide siding on the outside. I have lots of plywood from another project.

I am thinking about adding foam board insulation and then covering the interior with plywood.

Ventilation isn’t an issue. I have a window on both side (away from the roost bar) as well as an exhaust fan with an automatic switch.

1) is insulation helpful in southern Ontario?
2) does it help in summer? The coop is intentionally placed under the tree canopy because summers can get hot
3) is R-3sh good or should I go more?
4) the coop sits 18” above ground. Should insulate the floor?
5) should I insulate the ceiling?

Thanks.

This is something I'm mulling over myself.

Right now, we're using a prefab that has insulated walls (Omlet Eglu). In the winter, this helps hold warmth when the chickens settle in for the night. In the summer, all the insulation does is slow down the cooling process at night.

If you're going to insulate, then I would suggest having extra windows that can be opened in the summer to vent and get some cross breeze (this is on top of your main ventilation at the roofline).

Another thing to consider is that insulation will be a potential nesting site for mice.

As far as where to insulate, I'm hoping someone else with firsthand experience can chime in!
