Farm & Fleet should have everything you need to start off with: posts, welded wire, and such. Especially the fencing staples. Menards or Home Depot would be a good place to get the lumber or posts as well. I would consider putting in a wood fence along that side of the connecting fence (you excuse could be shading the run) so the dogs can't easily see the chooks. Welded wire would also be too tough for a dog to get through, just get a strong gague.
