insullating and caulking

I have a small coop for four birds I'm building. I have lightly insullated it and thinking about caulking to prevent drafts. will they peck at and or eat the soft silicone. is this toxic, are there alternatives? I live in new england and our colder seasons are longer than not.

Mine havn't eaten the caulk I used in my chicken house. I used the clear (transparent).

Did you cover the insulation? They will peck at insulation, both the foam kind and the fiberglass kind. If you do caulk, I would use the clear kind and would really smooth it down. They will peck at just about anything that sticks out or stands out...
