Integrating 5 - 1yr old hens with 4 - 12 wk old pullets?

Gee we integrated 10 week old pullets and 14 week old pullets into a flock of 6- 1 yr old hens and 1 yr old rooster...it was very scary for first few days, one of them got pecked in the head (I think this may have been the rooster...but after a week they were ok in the pen and roosting at night together without any big problems). However we decided (actually my husband decided) to put in a 10 week old cockerell around the same time and he has since been a little terror (now at 16 wks old) and the only one that keeps him in line is the older rooster who kind of has become the pullets favorite (I think the older hens are a bit jealous). Its a bit nerve wrecking to integrate and I don't look forward to doing it again.
