I have 5 mallard drakes , I believe the youngest to be 2 yrs old.I have had 3 females (mallards) and 1 mut (mixed breed ) that cant fly.
about a 11/2 yrs. ago mysteriously my female mallards disappeared, I believe they flew off... No other evidence to think differently.
The main problem has been 5 males, 1 female ( mut), I am sure you can imagine what spring is like here! So i found a feed store that has 1 to 2 yr old crossed pekin and mallard ducks for sale, so I bought one (she could fly.....and very good at it) so i clipped her wing to help her stay on my farm as her new home. Now my problem is! she seems to love the farm and the pond but the other 6 ducks really want nothing to do with her, my wife and I are concerned they won't accept her and a predator will get her. All my ducks are free range on 5 acres with a 70 ft diameter pond to call home. Are there any suggestions?, the feed store is attempting to catch at least 1 if not three more for me....that has not happened yet, although this is a holiday weekend. any help would be appreciated.
