Hi all! I have four 11 week olds and three 4.5 week olds. They have been living in side by side runs and in separate coops so they see each other during the day for about 2 weeks. I have read a lot of stuff on integration of yongs into old laying hens but all of my birds are young so I’m hoping to integrate them soon. I have read some stuff on integrating chicks around this age with an existing flock but I can’t find anywhere like steps or a guide on how to start doing it with my young ones. Can I let them out to meet the big girls supervised? When do I have to wait to do this? What signs should I look for if I should separate them? I’m a new time chicken owner so would LOVE some help on this matter! As many peoples advice and suggestions as possible! Thank you!

Understanding you've got only 2 groups, the 11wk old ones and the 4.5wk old, correct?
Having them in separate coops yet visible with each other is a good start, what breeds are they? Some breeds a bit more "aggressive" than others. Personally I would wait until the younger ones were at least 8 - 12wks, the size difference between the 2 groups a concern.

If you want to try supervising them in a large area, make sure there's hiding spots the younger ones know and can get away from the older ones. Allow only the younger ones in at first (week) so they can learn the area and hiding spots. When you add the older ones, scatter some feed or treats on the ground so the attraction is there and not at the younger ones. But I'm "chicken" prefer to wait until the younger ones are older.

Yes those two groups only. The big girls- 2 red sex links and 2 black copper mar and. Little girls- all Easter eggers and a lot more energetic than the big girls.
I don’t really have a third unoccupied space to use as a new area for that kind of introduction . I have one run for the 4 big girls that is roughly 75 square feet- made up of many different sectioned store bought runs inside each other and connected then the babies are in a a coop run that is one of those kits from tractor supply. This is a temporary set up. All the hardware cloth was sold out so I got what I could until my order can get here to make a giant 12X9 run with a tunnel that will run through out the garden that will also lead to a second roughly 8X8 run space. So they in the end will probably have close to 250 square feet in the end. My current set up and space is temporary. Just have to wait for my orders to come in so I can finish their space!
As for the letting the babies out first- could I let the babies out into a 6X6 section first while keeping the big girls in the coop/small sectioned run and then let the big girls out to join them? All while still allowing the babies to have access to their original little run area but keeping the opening small enough for the big girls to not fit. Or is that going to be too small of an area for introduction and I need to wait until I can finish my set up??
