I am curious about when we can integrate our chicks with our 14-month-old laying hens. We have 15 hens and 15 chicks. The chicks were born on October 15th, and we have kept them separate in another building. When would it be considered 'safe' to put our babies in with our older hens? I am concerned about putting them together too early, especially during the winter, when they will be in closer quarters during the really cold days. Any advice will be most appreciated! Thanks so much!

I hit this forum at the right time!!!! Look under my name, and click on my BYC page. Fail proof integration!!! I swear by it and it has never failed me - not once. And I have been at this for a while now, hatching new chicks and integrating.

well i was supper lucky as i just kinda "threw " my chicks (7 week olds) in with the adult flock and all the adults even the roo's just think there banty's ( i have 2 bantys in my adult flock )

one light peck from my mean roo and that was it for pecking + all the hens where way more interested in the chick waterier and food to worry about the little sun bathing chickys
