When I picked up my order last week, instead of 5 chicks there were only 3. In order to get the one chick that was very important (a SLW which was picked out by my 8 year old) they have said that they can't ship again until the 21st. I assume that I'll have to keep them in separate brooders as they are going to be 3 weeks apart. What do I need to do to integrate them and how do I do it? They're supposed to be all pullets, but after the first snafu I'm not fully confident.

I've kept mine apart as well, 2 are 2 weeks and 10 are 5 weeks. I was told (by these boards) to wait until they are about the same size to put them together. Our new coop and run is split so they will be on one side and my older girls will be on the other. Hopefully, when they are all about the same size I can put them together the way I want.
Hope someone else can give you good advice as I'm pretty new to this. Good luck, they sure do grow fast!

Thanks! I'm as mad as a wet hen at the hatchery. If they had just called and asked, I would have told them I wanted them all at once. Now I'm in a panic about how to keep them separate and when to put them together. We won't be able to separate them in the run and the coop, as it is only a small suburban coop built for about 5-7 hens. I'm also worried about the timing as by the time this second batch will be ready to go out, it will be getting cold.

I hatched chicks and only one hatched then tried again and got 13 when they 13 were about 4-5 days old I put the 4 week old with them and he's a rooster as well and they get along fine. The little ones pecked at him a few times and he pecked at them a few times but no blood or injury's of any kind.
