Ok so our baby birds are now 11-12 weeks old. We have 7 of them and we also have 7 older birds that are established. We let them all out to free range and everyone seems ok- some pecking here and there but mostly young girls keep to themselves and older girls keep to themselves too. We have the younger birds below the coop separated from the big run but we want to start integrating them into the big run and big coop.

is it too soon?? They aren’t all the same size yet

we just built them their own door to the coop too but we haven’t used it and we haven’t opened the run yet either.

thoughts???

I introduce my new birds into the flock at 3½ to 4 months of age.
This year I'm putting them at 6 months due to lots of meat birds needing to be done in first.

I introduce my chicks at 4 weeks and by 6 weeks they’re all in the coop with the bigs at night. The littles are usually on the floor at night for a while but sometimes they’ll hold their own and roost right away.
