Integrating One-Year old Silkies

Hi everyone, I have two beautiful friendly silkies, and unfortunately one passed away yesterday(she was only 13 months old) from being egg-bound i am 90% sure. I am going to go get a new silkie so my little lloyd has a friend, and doesn't get lonely aside from the fact that I love them and I want more(we are only planning on getting one but if we need to get two we can). I am wondering if anyone has any tips or has integrated two already one year chickens together? particularly silkies. I am worried that since my first two were raised together since pullets that there will be a problem. My chickens are more of family pets than egg laying chickens, and we love them so dearly and are completely heartbroken. What tips do you guys have, anything is so appreciated!!

You won't know how it will go until you try. If necessary you can separate them by a wire fence until they get more familiar. Are you planning to quarantine the new hen? If you get two, your original one could get ganged up on so I would stick to one if that's what you want.

Yes I am planning to quarantine the new hen, but after the trial separation by a fence so that they could smell and see each other and all that I was planning to move them both into the same coop. I agree it will take time to see how they are together and to only get one. Thanks for all your advice
