Right now I have 3 full grown hens ranging from the age of 2-3 years old. I also have a 6 maybe 8 month old Maran pullet. She's super sweet, very docile and submissive. My Jersey Giant girl is very aggressive with her, and my Delaware follows her lead (she's at the bottom of the pecking order), the other maran isn't too bad, she will tolerate her but will chase her off occassionally, the roo loves her. I'd really like to integrate her into the group, but they beat her up relentlessly. I've held her back because of her size and disposition, but I've been letting her out to free range with them several times a week. She generally sticks with them, but they will get a wild hair and go pick on her. Poor little thing keeps trying and trying to stick with them.
Should I just toss her in the coop with the meanies and let them establish the pecking order, or give her more time to grow so she's big enough to handle my beasts (my girls are big hens).?
