Hello everyone! I am interested in getting quail, which would be a new experience for me. If i were to get quail what would be the best breed to begin with, and can you post pictures of your quail housing, so i can see what would be a good option!
thanks! :D

Coturnix are hardy little quails. I think I'll let others put pictures of their quail housing because a raccoon got into it before I upgraded it to make it more safe and it was also kind of falling apart at the time of the picture...

as you can probably tell. The windows are propped up at night to protect them from breezes and rain. The tarp is to keep rain out and they have a hidey hut and a cat litter box for a sand pit.

Should the coop/pen be elevated off the ground? Because i got a really big pen that i think would work good for quail but it doesn't have a bottom.
Something might dig underneath it. That's why I elevated mine, but I can't put heavy things in the middle where the bricks aren't supporting it.

Coturnix are great to start with. Easy to care for imo. I'm in the process of upgrading my quail house too. Its elevated above ground, set to the height of my shoulders actually. The new one is much larger and heavier so it's more stomach height. But it has a fully covered box for cover and will have a nice big dust bath too.

When I started I made a small cage based on what I read online. But now I want things for them, like a dust bath, and just don't have a good spot hence why I am upgrading.
