Hi!
I have a very large run that needs some beautiful birds!
It's 30X10 completely enclosed, has a very nice 8X10 enclosed shed with perches, nesting boxes, etc. The run has a few black berry bushes in it for cover, a peach tree growing in it to shade the shed and the whole thing runs along a length of my horse pasture fence, tall grass and briars surround two sides of it.
I have a very large chicken coop and run that is about 100 yards from this run, have 19 RIR's we use for eggs. Never had a problem, been raising and caring for birds for years.
Objective:
Raise a few quality birds for personal consumption and get a few taxidermy specimens for my fireplace mantel.
Hatch a few out to sell at the local swap meets/auctions.
Questions:
Quality impressive large breed?
Hardy breed for NW Arkansas?
Economical contact for eggs to hatch?
Resources to learn?
How many birds can be kept in 30X10 enclosure, more than one pair?
How many eggs does a hen lay in a year?
I'm sure I'll think of more Q's but I'd really appreciate any and all help!
