Interesting Chicken Coop Design- - Need Your Input

Quote:
You could put a coop stationary with a small run around it and let the chickens out in your yard to roam and then put them in for the night. They can keep your yard in shape. You can always try one way and if it doesn't work for you try another.

This has been really helpful. Still thinking through what will work best in my situation, but I really appreciate how giving all of you have been of your time in giving me great insights!!!

We have several tractors (which take a farm tractor to move) and one big coop that we keep stationary, but move the pens around the outside. We made pens of PVC pipe and hardware cloth and put bird netting on the top with zip ties. When the grass is getting beat up, we just pick it up and move it around the coop.

One thing to consider is to make sure your coop and pen will not blow over if it gets windy. Too light and they are easy to move, but they also can blow over. We usually put a few steel posts in the ground and fasten the pen or tractor to them.
