Hello, new here. Mainly trying to share a quick story and find some chickens a good home in mich,
I had my parents contact me today with a funny neighbor story, and hoping to help out some little chicks in the process.
A neighbor of my parents decided to buy a couple of chickens his words easter chicks for his Granddaughter. but her parents do not want the responsibility of taking care of them and said noway. So he decided since my parents have a little granddaughter and thinking that she might like them. Without actually telling them what he was going to give them gave the chicks to them and said here these are yours now give them to your Granddaughter.
This is the short and sweet version LOL. so I said sure bring them over I will house them and try to find them a good home, and now here I am if anybody in Macomb county, Michigan area has a heart to take in a couple of chicks and give them a good home. I will check back here post some info and we can get together I am also hoping to get some info about a proper way to take care of these little guys in the meantime I have been in some of the other posts reading so have a little bit of a idea. some of the terminology is a little advanced or should I say the lingo used. So hope I can get some resp.

I will be posting some pics of them here shortly, but I don't believe they are that young no. as for feed the neighbor already had some, going to take a pic of that too. Also is there a thread somewhere that would be better to post this at. Would really like to get them to a nice home

from CA!!

I am assuming they are pretty little? They will most definitely be needing a heat lamp for several weeks. Start out at 95 degrees heat down at their level... skin temp of hand... and degrees by 5 degrees every week. They will need to be indoors and protected until about 6=8 weeks old and completely feathered out before they go outside, especially up in your cold climate. They need chick feed which comes in medicated and non medicated (for coccidiosis a diarrhea disease).. I use medicated... and they will need fresh water at all times. They have wonderful personalities, so sit back and enjoy.

It would be a good idea to post this in the "raising baby chicks" section. Try to figure out their ages (do they have any feathers or just on wings). Their age will dictate their needs. By the way, it was very kind of you to take this on.

Welcome,

THis is the premier site for finding those girls a home... if you have a 100Watt bulb, put that in one corner of a cardboard box, some pine shavings for bedding/paper towels will work in the mean time, the photo looks just like the food they need to be eating, about 20% protein for the first 8weeks, and clean water. They look to be 3weeks old in the photos and Easter Egger is the breed of chicken. So a temperature of 80'F for them... till next week...subtract 5 degrees every week. the 100watt bulb will do the work just lower the lamp to increase heat and raise the lamp to decrease the temp. they'll grow pretty quick, handle them everyday so they get used to people. and that's basically it.
Try doing a member search for people in your area, it's on the main blue-toolbar, under User List just after "index" on the toolbar, then enter the country, state, and region... that sould give you a group of users that are in your area...
also, you could put the birds up on the auction forum, it's at the bottom of the index of forums... read the participation agreement https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=250783 and post pictures of the birds and any arrangements for picking them up.
good luck!enjoy the ride...
