Hello,
Seeking advise on roosting bar location,

My current bar is a 2x4 and is approx 16-19 inches from the wall on both sides. And approx 18" off the floor.

My question is... will the be able to fly up with only 16-19" of space of either side it should I built a little ladder for them to get into the roost ?

It might be high considering how tight it is to the front and back walls. You may want to lower it a little bit. But not lower than the nest box.

Your coop is severely lacking and ventilation. You're supposed to have as close as you can manage to 1 sq ft of permanently open ventilation per bird in the coop and that ventilation cannot cause drafts directly on the roosted birds.

How many birds do you plan to keep in that coop? You also need 3.5 to 4 sq ft per bird in the coop.

I will have 4 birds in the coop,
Is has 2 vents on either side 2 on the front. It will also have a window installed shorts to add extra ventilation.

The existing vents are so small they likely provide next to no air flow. How large will the added window be?

A very good place to consider opening up for ventilation would be the wall facing into the run (where the horizontal vents currently are) as the roof overhead will help provide protection from the elements.

Yes I will be adding more of those horizontal vents stright across the front of the coop in the run area like you mention. The window is not very big but I think it will do the trick. I will be monitoring the interior coop temperature and humidity throughout the summer

Do you have roosts parallel to each other? How much space is there between the roosts? The recommended 4 sq ft per bird is open floor space, not wall-to-wall space. They need to be able to open their wings to fly up to the roosts. Frankly (since you asked), it looks a bit cramped to me.

Yes, they should be able to fly up to an 18" high roost without much issue, especially lighter breeds. However, with only 16–19" of space from the wall, it might be a bit tight for larger birds. Adding a simple ladder or step can help make it easier and safer, especially as they get older or if you have heavier breeds.
