Internal/External Pip

Hey guys
So I'm abit confused on what internal and external pip's are, how do they work? What to they mean? And what do they even look like?

An internal pip is when the chick breaks through the membrane and starts breathing oxygen from the air cell of the egg. This happens around day 20-21 of incubation. You may not notice anything as the eggs should be "locked down" by then (if in an incubator this means that you stop turning eggs, increase the humidity for hatch day and don't open the incubator at all to prevent the eggs drying out). You may hear quiet cheeping. An external pip is the first crack that appears on the outside of the egg (you can google info on what this looks like). You can often hear the chick cheeping away! From external pip to hatch it can take 12-24 + hours.
