Internal Layer?

Hopefully you got something useful out of the thread. It was terribly long.

Baytril is what my avian vet gave me for Paris on the day before she died. I had a liquid form that I could load into a syringe (needleless). The vet taught me to open her beak, and put the tip of the syringe over the back of her tongue, and squirt it in. I'm not sure if you could dissolve a Baytril tablet in water and do the same thing, but be careful not to give too much at once or to poke them in the back of the throat. My understanding is that a bird's airway is under the tongue, so as long as you get to the back of the throat, they will not aspirate. Also, could you get the liquid form of Baytril? Not sure how you were supposed to give a tablet to a bird.

Just an update -- I decided not to attempt giving the Baytril since Amanda wasn't interested even in treats and I figured why torment her by trying to medicate her if she was going to die anyway. So I put her back with the others, since at least she seemed happier outside foraging. Now, three weeks later, she is looking and behaving normally as far as I can tell, and I was able to confirm finally that she laid a normal egg yesterday. We did have a couple of freak eggs over the last couple of weeks: one with no shell, and one that was about the size of a quarter, but there was no way for me to prove they were from her.

So now I have no idea if she is/was an internal layer, egg bound, or something entirely different!
