I am 13 hours into day 21 and I canded real quick while adding water to the bator...I THINK i saw a few internal pips, but I'm not sure because I don't know what they are supposed to look like. I tried to get a pic real quick but it may not be that great...I can see beaks in the air cells...

This is one of my tiny D'Uccles....all 5 have air cells like that and I think I see beaks in 3 of the air cells...I can't tell in any of the bigger eggs......how long between internal pip and external pip...I have no idea when this internal pip happened if that is what this is...

wow! Not long at all. Their beaks are in the air sac which means they have a few hours worth of air. Then, as the carbon dioxide builds up in the air sac they will panic, and try to break the outer shell. They need the struggle to breathe to work their muscles and absorb their yolks. As hard as it is, please don't intervene. It's awfully tempting to pip the egg to help. But this causes un-absorbed yolks which can kill the chicks and also their legs will be weak as they havent built up the muscles by pushing against the shell.

I won't pip the egg...just curious because I feel like I have been waiting forever. I'm pretty sure I heard a chirp coming from the egg I took a pic of, but I can't tell because there are birds outside chirping as well....oh, I'm so excited...I'm really hoping for even just one to hatch today!!

All of my eggs are in cartons and I am trying not to pick them up...I just put the flashlight under the hood of the bator real quick to check the air cell....

Now that I know a couple have pipped internally I will be watching like a hawk!
