Does anyone know were I could get information on how to ship chickens from the US to Vietnam?
I would like to ship some roosters to my brother in law.
First talk to the people at the Vietnamese embassy and see what they can tell you. Then be sure that you are up to speed with the NPIP.
For arguments sake I am assuming that you are planning on shipping adult fowl. Plan on only shipping
PREPAID and
FOB whatever your physical address is. FYI, FOB means
Free On Board. Which means that you pay for the packing, the paperwork, and delivering the merchandise to the State Side airport, and the concinee (your brother in law) is 100% responsible for paying for the freight charges to fly the chickens to their new home. A few years ago live game chickens were the most common commodity leaving many American International Air Hubs. Usually in consignments of 100 or more birds at a time. Special shipping boxes or crates that hold 4 to 6 chickens are available and whatever you do be sure that you have all the information on paper that the airlines give you, and
FOLLOW it to the letter.
Finally if possible always ask for by name and talk to the same airline clerk.
After you talk to the Vietnamese Embassy then start calling the airlines. To get started ask your brother-in-law what the most popular air freight carrier is at the airport which your brother-in-law lives nearest to.
I don't have any experience with shipping to Nam but I have limited experience shipping to the Islands. Guam, Saipan, Philippines, etc.
