Intervention? Hatching

I had a egg pip around 4pm bst. Since then i noticed another little pip close to the other about 11am but since then nothing we are now around 28 hours it has not made a peep that i can tell, i have had another chick hatch and another pip . But nothing really from the first to pip should i step in now ? Is there still a chance for him? Or is he a gonner?

I personally would take it out and check that it is still alive (I'd rather know than sit on my hands wondering). If your ambient humidity is pretty high then it will be fine to open the incubator, otherwise you can run the hot water in the shower to steam up your bathroom, take your incubator in there and open it in there.

You can candle to see if the chick is moving, or listen to hear its clicking breathing, or see if it cheeps at you (some don't make a peep). As long as it can breathe and is alive I would wait until it has been 24 hours since the initial pip and only after that would I investigate further. Jumping in too soon can cause all sorts of issues if the veins in the membrane haven't receded yet or the chick hasn't absorbed the remains of the yolk.

We think it has hatched. But the egg it came out of should have been a derbyshire red cap wich is a fawn colour as can be seen in my other thread hang on im going in. Instead i have 1 fawn and 3 black 2 should be as they are meant to be ayams the 3rd most definatly shouldnt be we are thinking black orpington as the lady i got from rears show grade orpingtons but 8 would have imagined it would have been a larg egg and it wasnt

Update i did not intervene. I was very tempted as this is first incubation hatching so a bag of nerves really . But here is something hopefully to make you smile
