Help,

Our 10 week old Silkie has been pooping these out almost every day since we got her two weeks ago! I read that this could just be normal intestinal lining, but the size and daily nature of these poops has me worried. I treated her with CORAID for the first 5 days we got her, just in case. She acts totally normal.

Thanks in advance, Doug

Take a sample to the vet and have it tested and treated if needed. Safety First. Looks like an intestinal parasite to me. I would look at this pic when I'm eating pork and beans.:sick

Call around to local vets to see if you could bring in a couple of those freshing droppings to run a fecal float. How is the chicken acting? What dosage of Corid per gallon did you use? There could be coccidia, mucus, and possibly a worm problem. Coccidiosis, capillary worms, and enteritis can all cause bleeding.

Thanks for the replies!
The chicken is seemingly acting normal, maybe less active than I would expect even for a Silkie. The Corid dosage was a 1:1000 dilution of a 9.6% amprolium solution. So I used 4mL per gallon water. This was for her drinking water, made fresh each day treated for 5 days. Here is a picture of some bloody droppings today.
Thanks, Doug

Thank you both. Yes, I treated for Moderate out break(before I even knew there was bloody poop). I'll retreat the water for another 5 days at the severe strength. Then followup with the lower strength for another 5 days.
