4 year old easter egger. Intestinal shed 3 days in a row. Acting ok. Cannot get fecal for less than 100.00. Everyone else's fecal is normal. I want to try amoxcillin first, then dewormer after if needed. Is dosage 250mg once a day for 10 days? I have tablets. @Wyorp Rock @Eggcessive please advise.

You can give 250 mg of Amoxicillin to a 5 pound chicken twice a day for 7-10 days. I think I would worm her, since worms can cause blood in poop. Generic Valbazen (Albendazole) 0.5 ml given orally once and again in 10 days, or SafeGuard liquid goat wormer or horse paste 0.23 ml per pound given for 5 consecutive days would be good.

@Eggcessive there is not blood, it is jelly like orange shed. I did not think you could deworm the same time as antibiotics.

Personally, I'd avoid giving two medications at the same time, especially if one of them is an antibiotic. I'd wait 5-7 days in between.

Fecal shedding might be cured just by deworming unless you've got other symptoms. I'd go with deworming first, but that's just me going off what you've said on your first post.

Do you have photos of the poop?

I agree, I'd deworm first, then if the issue is not resolved, you can consider if an antibiotic is an appropriate course of action to take.

You can deworm and give most antibiotics at the same time if you wish to do so, many people have, but it's always a good idea to do your homework and search to make sure there are no contraindications between the dewormer (anthelmintic) you choose and the antibiotic you choose.

Is deworming or antibiotics the first course of action?

I agree that worming first would be what I would do. Antibiotics may not be needed, and since you don’t know exactly what is going on. Here is albendazole (generic Valbazen) with free shipping:

This shedding was in her poop this morning. I dewormer her 72 hours ago. Before it was orange jelly like, now this. I put poop in water and that's how this shed appears the water stayed clear, not pink for blood. What do I do? She's acting ok believe it or not.

It can take a day or up to a week for the parasites/worms to die and be completely excreted. It's also recommended, if you used Albendazole, that it be repeated in 10 days.

As long as she's still acting well, eats, and drinks, etc., I'd stick with this through completion.

You'd want to follow up with probiotics afterward. Those might not be a bad idea anyway right now.
