Really? How neat! It must be some secret handyman thing. My dad could do anything! I've never seen anybody else do this in their garage/shop/etc...so I figured my dad was just a creative genious. LOL

I like to re-use too! I save just about any container. You could easily use the tins as tiny window ledge herb gardens. Could look kinda nostalgic with some herbs popping out, or use them to start seedlings till the weather is right ( maybe melons or strawberries, tomatoes?)

My dad did this in Miami, FL in the early '70's. It amazed my mom, who was soooo confused why he was having her keep the jars LOL.
We moved to GA in the late '70's and he left the set-up for the new homeowner.

My dad was always very organized, and an outbuilding on Mom's property still has the boxes in it for almost every appliance he bought, with the receipt taped to it!

My wife saves tins for me and I keep my seeds from the garden in them.
