Hi,
We're new duckling owners. Our three Pekins are approximately 3 weeks old. We started them on Purina Duck food but Tractor Supply has run out and has no idea when they'll get more. I went to our local farm store and they sold me Home Fresh Poultry Starter (medicated) after I told them I wanted unmedicated. I just noticed it on the bag so now I'm upset.

Anyway, my question is about Niacin supplements. I purchased Niacin 500 mg capsules flush free. Any idea how I figure out how much to give them? I thought it was 10mg per duckling.

Thanks for any help.
Michelle

Welcome to BYC! :frow

The medicated feed they sell nowadays, is actually completely fine for ducklings, so no worries there. You can add a 500mg B tablet to four gallons of drinking water for the ducks.

That's what I thought. Thanks for the confirmation. I'll get another brand. Do you think Brewer's Yeast would be a better purchase for them?

I just ordered the Purina feed for ducks for them. Tractor Supply has it online just not in stores.

Thanks.

Brewers yeast, nutritional yeast or Liquid B complex would all be good, as a niacin supplement.

So, I'm pretty confused between niacin, Brewer's Yeast, or Vitamin B supplement? They seem healthy and happy but I want to make sure they have the very best start. They are already loved by my teenagers. Is one easier than the other to give? I've been reading and reading.
