Intro and tax?

Welcome to BYC.
I think it would depend on your location.
Here (I'm in Texas) I believe you have to be inspected yearly, at your cost, in order to donate eggs to a charity. That isn't something I care to do.
I can sell eggs from my property without a license, but not off site.
I don't won't strangers on my property, so I just give mine away. I give them to neighbors, family, friends, and occasionally to delivery drivers and our postal person. I also let people know that they can have them to pass them along to anyone who needs them.
I unfortunately 🤣, let my broodies hatch them too. That just leads to more eggs to give away.

Hey everyone I have been raising and caring for my chickens for a few years now. So glad for the internet it’s been a lot of help. I’m so glad to find this group finally after a few years of self teaching.
I have some questions and just looking for general advice on what it takes to
Make it a business versus hobby or I was wondering if I did the proper paperwork etc., could I donate eggs to the local food bank (just would be nice to give back. We donate everything usually) However I was wondering if there is a tax deduction at all for this type of donation? Just would be a win win. Thank you I’m advance for any information and guidance
