Hi All.
I would like to start by saying what a great site. I have been lurking for a while now and have come across an enormous amount of valuable information. What a great group of people with shared interest possitively exchanging informations, opinions, guidance, etc.
So I am still in the planning phases and have a question or two that I have been unable to answer in my scouring of the forum, so I decided to register. I think my question/s belongs in managing flock/ feeding and watering sections so I will refrain from that at this time.
I am an egg addict and like the occassional chicken dinner as well. I have been troubled by the industrial production of our food for most of my life and am finally ready to do something to limit my participation in this system. Looking to raise dual purpose , culling the cockerels, besides a roo or two and have a broody replenish stock periodically. The minimizing of the 'pet' factor will be a challenge, because I am an animal lover. Then again, chicken sure does taste good. I grew up in the country, have bounced around quite a bit, now I am ready to get back to my roots.
