Hi, even though I have been reading through BYC for several weeks now, I just joined. This site has been very valuable.
At the moment I have one, one day old chick named "Annie". My granddaughter named her that as we were looking for a name that means blessing from God. Annie is a white leghorn and I did many things wrong incubating the egg, so it is a total wonder she hatched. She is doing great now and lets you know in a heart beat what she does not like.
I have 4 more eggs due to hatch in one day. Yes another newbie mistake - incubating eggs at different times. Won't do that again!
I had chickens growing up, and had a flock of 11 until about 13 years ago. So really eager to get going again!
Glad to meet everyone and thanks to all who share their knowledge.

Thanks for the welcome. I am definitely adding to the flock! I have four more eggs in the bator and looking to see what breeds/type I want next. Not sure if going to be doing the hatching thing again, but I might because I found a local farm that does free range and organic feeding that will sell me fertile eggs. Most of my eggs came this time in the mail with detached air cells.
Oh so looking forward to my chickens! just glad to find a site that understands the love of them!
Connie
