Intro info

Hello there and welcome to BYC! :frow

I am so sorry about your dog. :hugs I am soon to be going through the same thing with my old Maltese who has stage 3 Congestive Heart Failure right now, he isn't going to be around much longer I fear. I will be completely broken when he passes.

Chickens sure are easy to fall in ice with, aren't they? :love

That is exactly what my little girl passed from. You have all of my heart right now. That is an exhausting and one of the most difficult things to watch a fur baby go through.

Hi guys.

So I'll be honest and admit that I have been Google searching and stealing your information for a couple months now while learning the ups and downs of raising chickens LOL. I finally decided that it would be a whole lot easier just to join so that I can talk to all you wonderful people instead of being just in the background.

The reason I got chickens... Well I had a dachshund for almost 15 years and had to put her down. With everything that was going on I wasn't ready for another dog so I opted for a chicken. A friend of mine raises exotic birds and had a couple extra older hens that he was willing to part with to see if I indeed would like chickens. It took about three days and I fell in love with them. I have a large Easter Egger that we figure is about 6 years old the other is a black and white Ameraucana about 4 years old.

Just before winter I attended a bird auction with him and bought this scraggly little black sex linked, she was less than a year old and about the price of a small coffee. She sat in the front seat with me all the way home.

They are now like little children and it was the best decision I ever made. I'm glad to be here and look forward to the amazing amount of information that you guys have on here.
Trish, you made a good choice! Welcome!

I lost two to congestive heart failure, father made it to 11 yrs. daughter who was a couch potato held on to 14. Miss them badly
What breed were they? It is insanely difficult to go through that. My little girl managed to last 2 years after the diagnosis. It was definitely hard to watch. I feel you there, I miss mine terribly as well
