Because Polish have such big crests, it's best if you can teach them to drink from "nipple waterers." Otherwise their crests get frequently dunked into water dishes and stay wet which attracts parasites.

Hello! We have 2 silver laced (Irene and Loretta) and one golden laced (Sally). What type of problems have you had with your polish? I know they have trouble seeing once their head feathers are all grown in but I haven't really heard about many other issues with them.

Main things are checking them regularly for eye problems, mites/Lice in the crest and them being bullied by other breeds as they usually at the bottom of the pecking order.
They in general need checking more often than other breeds and it’s all to do with their crest.

Thank you! I will definitely keep an eye on their eyes and crest. They won't be bullied because they are our only 3 chicks. I have a feeling they will be bossing our Chiweenie and Mini Dauchshund around as they are already chasing them around the sunroom at times. The mini dauchshund is luckily short enough to fit under all the furniture - the Chiweenie, not so much. They are a hoot!
