(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I am not very new, and I have had chickens for about 3 years now! Not a long time, but I certainly wouldn’t consider myself a beginner anymore.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
Around 40, although I have owned over 100 overall.
(3) What breeds do you have?
Many! RRRs, welsummer, Cochins, brahmas, polish, EE’s (ameraucana, OE’s, SGE’s…), silkies, frizzles, game bantams, Seramas, d’uccle’s, australorp, langshan, Marans, barnevelder, Sussex, Wyandottes, a few more particular breeds, (such as midnight majesty’s), and probably more that I can’t think of off of the top my my head haha. We also have a good few mutts as well
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
I like watching them grow. Even if they are adults, the seem to change physically all the time. I think it’s very fun to see!
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I am an artist, and I frequently paint animals/unreal creatures. And yes, I sometimes like to sketch my chickens as well. They are good models
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
Me and my family live on a small 11 acre farm, where we raise our poultry and goats. We also have 3 dogs and 5 cats, I love them all very much! (Even though the goats tend to push my buttons at times…). As for myself, I don’t exactly have a set occupation, but I want to get into the art/animation industry in some way. Perhaps my chicken doodles will prove to be helpful!
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I typically hang out on the backyard chickens subreddit, but people have suggest the actual site as a better place for chicken stuff. I think I agree! So now I am here
