I have had a few chickens since 2020, now we have 15-6 week olds. We incubator hatched 6 of them, bought 4 Brahma chicks that were a week younger and got 5 from Tractor Supply. They are feathered and ready to go out. My question is should they be kept in the coop for a day or two before being released to the run?(They are attached) Or will they instinctively know to go in the coop at night?

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow

Chicks or chickens don't naturally know where home is, you will need to gather them up in the evening and get them inside the coop. Once they have slept in the coop several times, they will return there to retire. Even though they are in an attached run, it's still best to lock them in the coop so predators don't attempt a break in, which they will if they see or smell chickens sleeping and roosting. You want to keep your birds physically and mentally secure.

Enjoy your flock and welcome to ours!
