We have a 1 year old silkie chick who just lost her bonded partner. We have 3 other hens and the silkie is the bottom of the pecking order and often gets picked on. We are going to get her a new friend but aren't sure if to introduce 1 or 2 new chicks to her. Does anybody know if she will form a better relationship if we only get 1 vs 2? I would hate for the other 2 new girls to be better bonded than with her. In case it matters, the two new hens are a 10 month old Silkie and a 5 month old Mille Fleur D'Uccle. Thanks!!

I suggest getting a whole new coop for your silkies and to keep her alone for about a week(if she's ingured maybe 2). Silkies are known to be sweet birds and won't fight back against other birds that bully them. After that week or 2 you can do the show but don't touch method with the two new silkies where they can level out the pecking order and at the same time let your older silkie get use to other chickens again.
