I made up a fruit and veggie tray for the chickens with fresh tomato, peaches and grated carrots. I am new at giving them table scraps so was excited to introduce them! Got my tray all ready and went up to feed them, it was around sunset,, was disappointed that all they did was look at it:-( Went out this morning and everything was gone! Looked it up and learned that chickens won't eat at dusk! Morning or afternoon for fruits and veggies from now on:-)

All of my chickens pig out right before going to the coop at night. They seem to be loading up for the night. I have never experienced or heard that chickens won't eat at dusk. Mine do, all the more so. That is when they want the treats.

I think someone may be feeding you a line.

Wish ya the best.

I think is what I meant to say is that chickens don't eat when it's dark, it was nearly dark, so perhaps that is why they didn't touch it until first light. I am curious though and will do a test of live worms at the same time of day and see if they go for them. If they don't go for the worms then I'll know my chickens will only eat in the light of day. I'll let ya know how it goes:-)
