I'm just curious of anyone has tried this? I'm trying really hard to stop hatching chicks during the pandemic, lol, but I have yet another broody hen. I also have chicks that I hatched almost a week and a half ago that I'm considering trying to sneak under her tonight.

I would be going against my own advice if I do this because I always say it's best to give chicks to broody hens that are usually no more than 4 days old, possibly a week old if you have a chill broody because they will bond with the hen better and reduce chances of her attacking them if they act afraid.

Anyway, I'm curious if anyone has successfully given chicks over a week old to a broody? Should I try it? Lol

Unless your broody is a silkie I personally wouldn't try it. The chicks are too old, and they wouldn't know what to do with a hen at their age. There is on occasion remarkable broodies that will take anything, but I wouldn't risk it personally.

Thanks for your input. She's a Wyandotte but she's a proven broody and a good one.
Looks like I'll be setting some more eggs, lol.
