    Hi! First time posting.

In May I am buying three 9 week old pullets. (first timer - lets start small, hehe) I would like to buy 1 buff orphington, 1 brahma, and 1 red sussex, to get a better feel for breeds. I'm guessing they will have been kept separated by breed... is it a bad idea to go for 3 unacquainted chickens? How can I introduce them?

    Any advice would be appreciated.thanks!

if you'll get your chickens all on the same day and put them in a new coop, they will probably fight alot for the next week or so. thats not pretty but normal because they are establishing a pecking order.
when i introduce new chickens to an existing flock, i like to snug them in at night when they are asleep. when they wake up in the morning they are to distracted to fight right away...you can find some more tips here: http://www.mypetchicken.com/backyar...duce-new-chickens-into-my-old-flock-H128.aspx
