Hello all,
I go by PennyLyn and I am excited to be here.
I am not only a new subscriber but also a new flock owner.
So here comes the newbie stupidity. LOL
My first introduction to chickens was 1 1/2 yrs ago.
With no intention of ever having chickens I went to TSC
to get some dog food. I foster dogs.
Saw all those cute little chicks and asked what breed the little white
was were. They said Silkies I went oh cool. She asked if I wanted some
I said no they are just so cute.
Went to do my shopping on the way out she said are you sure you don't want those Bantams?
I stopped dead in my tracks.
You see long ago we raised bantams for their feathers for making Fly Ties for fishing.
So I got 4....a week later I went to TSC to get some electrolytes. Walked out with 4 more pullets.
Panicked gave 2 of the bantams away. as it worked out I had 1 rooster and 1 hen Bantams and so where the 2 I gave away.
Went back to the store again came home with 2 Autralops and 2 Brahmas all hens.
Now what am I going to do????
Not prepared I proceeded to build a coop and pen. Just in time to let them out for the summer.
Now this year I got 4 more....breeds, ,not a clue.... well before I got those I wanted to try hatching from the 2 Silkies.
They gave my 5 more...3 Huge Silke's Roosters and 2 ????? not sure but one has the pompom on the head like his Polish mother had.
But beautiful feathers.
So now in the process of another coop as I think the other one was too small for all of them. Almost done. Just the roof and security
around the perimeter to keep those little rodents at bay.
Only one sad day. I saw my little Pollock go into her nesting box. An hour later I went in to check on her and she had passed.
Now I have her baby rooster all grown up now, doing something I am not comfortable with. thus the reason I am here to to see if anyone can tell me what is his sissue so I might be able to help him...,
Anyway glad to be here

I think we all get addicted to chickens, no clue as to what do with them, we've all lost a bird or 2 at some point it's part of having them, I lost my 1st flock to predators, whats going on with the roo? Anyways ask questions that what folks are for and they don't mind helping,
