I had 2 chickens but one died today so we are going to get another one. Not sure what happened to my chicken, she just seemed to be really down for a long while and this morning, when I went to check on her, she was dead 
So anyway, we are going to get another chicken to keep my remaining one company but I just have a question.
I originally had 2 chickens, 1 died of a mite infestation which we managed to get under control but the other survived. So we went to get another chicken which was a point of lay one, so a fair bit younger than my existing chicken but the lady who we got the new ones from said that we would be better off getting 2 new chickens as they will be younger and to put the younger one in with our older existing chicken could result in the new one being picked on. So we got 2 and one of those died a couple of months after we got her (we haven't had much luck!) so we were left with 2 again. So my question is, is it ok to introduce one new chicken to my one remaining chicken or should I get 2? Also, the one that I have is buff sussex. If we were to get a silkie, would they not go well together? Do we need to stick to the same sort of breed?
