We have an already established hen with her rooster. My DH wants to add another hen or 2 for more eggs. We have looked for hens on here and locally, but never got one. I was just wondering how easy it is to incorporate another hen into a situation like ours. I have been reading posts about hens and their pecking order. Is there definitely going to be a problem or is there a chance that they will get along or ignore each other? We live on an acre and free range them, the way they were when we adopted them, so space is not really an issue, I think. Any thoughts on this would be appreciated. I'd hate to upset my sweet hen since she is as much a part of the family as she is useful.

when/if you get some new hens.pen them up where your hen an roo can see them for a week.once they get used to seeing them.put them in the pen at nite with the other chickens.

I read on another site that a guy tried introducing new hens during the day with little success. He waited until dark when they were all snuggled up in the coup and quietly placed them in beside the others......no reaction from the others at all! They're not the brightest buttons in the box lets face it.
