I have 6 Golden Comet hens that are eight month old. They have been great birds so far! They co-exist with the dog really well. They are great with the kids also.

But....When I introduced the flock to a 5 week old Andalusian chick they switched to attack mode in mere seconds! They were puffing their neck feathers out and darting in to peck at it! Needless to say I snatched the young thing up and quickly put it away.

I guess I thought that they would get along right off the bat. I guess I was wrong. Anyone have experience with acclimating new chicks into the flock? How long could this take?
